What is Perfect Pairs?
By Sonny White | February 24, 2010
Perfect Pairs is an optional bet that you’ll find on some blackjack tables. If you decide to play it, you will be betting that your first two cards will be a pair. There are three different types of pairs; Perfect Pair (two identical cards), Colored Pair (spades and club or hearts and diamonds), and a Mixed Pair (two cards of the same number but different colors). Each type pays out different odds and will vary with different casinos.

Mixed Pair pays 5 to 1 or 6 to 1
Colored Pair pays 10 to 1 or 12 to 1
Perfect Pair pays 30 to 1 or 25 to 1
The bet is very appealing to the player but the house holds a 6.11% edge. That’s not a crippling edge, but at a blackjack table where you’re only giving up 2-3%, it’s not a bet I would recommend playing all the time.
