By Sonny White | February 27, 2010
The popularity of gaming is beginning pop up anywhere and everywhere. It appears like the newest place is going to be a hockey arena. The Isle of Capri Casinos has made the city of Pittsburgh an offer they can’t refuse.
The local NHL team, which has had financial issues for years, is desperately in need of a new arena. The casino group has agreed to build a state of the art arena for the Pittsburgh Penguins and their fans.
They agreed to pay $290M for the new building if they are able to build a casino in the downtown core. The city will also benefit from the revenue the new casino will provide. The city is in need of revitalizing downtown and the new center will provide many needed jobs. The Isle of Capri won the bid because they offered to pay for the arena out of their own pocket.
